Review: The One-Night Secret

Image
The One-Night Secret by Brighton Walsh My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was an ARC/ALC read combo ... Yeah I did it ... While listening to the book being narrated I read it too .. And well it was a lot more intense that way ... I loved there were tiny differences in both, things that SOUND better vs things that READ better ... didn't bother in the slightest. With The One Night Secret we pick up a day before The Roommate Rules ends with THE one night stand ... followed by THE big reveal (and knowing the Steele Brothers it is BIG coz those men are Reacher sized) ... We meet up again with our brothers and their partners, the kids, Holly and Mabel of course. After all this I think we deserve a prequel of a young Mabel coz how old is she? And how did Mabel become Mabel? The narrators were really enjoyable, the return of OG Penelope and Declan voices were an added bonus. I am kinda sad this was the last installment ... but then again you could always read ...

Review: UNAwere

Image
UNAwere by Jess McFarlane My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews This was an ARC read. Oh Grumble Bum and Red ... your story was WOW ... the feels ... the yearning. This was another original spin on werewolves and I liked it a lot. It was strictly from Red's POV so you were left with a lot of questions and guessing while reading but it was al clear and packed in a nice gift with a big bow when finished. It made you laugh out loud, the banter - sometimes one sided since she is the one with ADHD was hilarious and you felt what she felt, the character development was really good. So if you like grumpy guys, ADHD girls and werewolves, you should read this!  You will not regret it and I know I will never feel the same when I see a red hatchback car or hear talk radio ... or taco's for that reason :)  I wonder what else Jess has up her sleeve ...

Review: "FANGS" A Spicy Vampire Romance

Image
"FANGS" A Spicy Vampire Romance by Gigi Rhett My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews This was an ARC read ... Ooh and it was good!!!  I LOVED Blake ...  and Lucy ...  I could keep on telling you how it's a beauty and the beast, love at first sight, dorian grey, true blood, gothic mix ... And I would be right, it tells you so much without saying anything about the story ... I only have 1 question left, WHEN IS BOOK 2 COMING? Coz that ending? It made me curse out loud and be angry ... wanna know why? Put it on your TBR pile and read it ... feel our pain and frustration!

Review: The Curse of the Wretched

Image
The Curse of the Wretched by S. Usher Evans My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews https://susherevans.com/products/curse-ebook-special-bundle I received this as an ARC read. This is the beautiful story of Elle and Thom ... An original spin on Beauty and the Beast. About legends and how truthful they are, or are not ... Jealousy and power hungry people Book people Rich and poor  And what happens when your friendship is tested, is power or wealth more important, or is your friend? I could tell you so much more but I don't want to spoil it ... I can tell you though: CLIFFHANGER! I hop to get the chance to read book 2 :)

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews Finished this 2nd audiobook from the series ... I am completely hooked!  Rhysand stole my heart by now ... Review: Black Tank

Image
Black Tank by Wade Prull My rating: 3 of 5 stars View all my reviews I received a copy of this short story from the author. It's been almost a week since I finished this and I still don't really know what I read. Figuring it was a novella I thought, 2 days max of reading ... or not. It was very slow, very detailed, very repetitive. It felt like I was in the mind of a person with severe autism or OCD ... I thought I would know, at the end, what it was all about, the big reveal ... but it just left me with more questions than I had when I started the first chapters. This might be someone else's cup of tea, unfortunately not mine. Not a thriller but one big mystery!

Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Image
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews Well I did this as audiobook, since the whole series is on Kobo :) I don't know yet what to think of Rhysand and since I started book 2 I'm even more conflicted (and trying to stay away from spoilers!) But in a whole it was great listening material ... I won't make it by the release of book 6 to listen to the whole series (Crescent City and Glass Throne included) but I got time :)

Review: FXKIN ENTITY - Part I

Image
FXKIN ENTITY - Part I by Jodie King My rating: 5 of 5 stars Oh my god ... Blaire View all my reviews Oh my god ... Blaire 💔 My heart was breaking reading this ... I read a lot of books and watch a lot of crime and abuse ... Mostly it is the aftermath with general ideas of what happens. This is a gruesome detailed account of what happens when you are well being used as a living sex doll. A prop. Not just from her POV but also the other side in a way. This book is not smut. Not romance.. nor just erotica. This is the pitch black horror of it. You can almost feel it. At times my stomach felt it, my body did. This is no light reading and not for the faint of heart. It does show you what is possible and what some people go through. If you can handle that part, read it and have your heart broken with me. And when you think it can't get worse .. it does. My only problem? The name Law... I am a One Piece fan and one of my favorite ch...

Review: While We Sin - Forsaken

Image
While We Sin - Forsaken by Janis Alder My rating: 4 of 5 stars View all my reviews This was an ARC read ... It took me a while to know what to write here as a review and this is my personal opinion. I loved the story: it was detailed and slow enough to enjoy the development of what was going on between Eden, Sebastian and Damian. For that alone I am giving it 4 stars. Personally I have to add honestly that I missed warmth, it felt very clinical - there was a lot of repetition of words or things that weren't really necessary anymore.  And could we please get a back story of Sebastian and Damian, we know a lot about Eden, but they are big mysteries. I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them be who they are. For some reason music of the Editors came to mind when they were talking about their band While we bleed ... but that is just a wild guess ...Like I said I loved the story but it could have been so  much more, ...

Review: Amara: The Witch of Baciu

Image
Amara: The Witch of Baciu by Nina Knox My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews Well 5 stars was not enough ...I LOVED Amara! And Colt! And Mihai! And well the forest ... For me it could have been at least double or triple the size (Sorry Nina, well not really). Set in Romania in a haunted forest .... but the banter, the thoughts, it was just so fun to read ... And quite spicy of course :) I hope my next book will be just as fulfilling as this one ... The glossary with Romanian phrases was helpful :) And the fact I heard Nina read them and pronounce them, kinda made me read Amara's POV in her voice ... dark deep and smokey.

Review: Ink, Blood, and Other Afflictions: Episode One

Image
Ink, Blood, and Other Afflictions: Episode One by Kristen Coar My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews Well there are no words for the crazy world of Vera and Nikolai. I got to enjoy this as audiobook ... It was short but well it's not like you will forget it just as fast as you read/listened to it. It made me giggle, the part I listened to at work made me blush and pray my bluetooth connection wouldn't fail since well it was *ahum* spicy or stabby depending on where I was ... and it left me with a death wish for a certain character :p It's part one of more to come ... but if you are a bit of a weirdo like me you will enjoy his!

Review: A Cage Painted Red: Explicit Version

Image
A Cage Painted Red: Explicit Version by Jessica Nicholls My rating: 5 of 5 stars View all my reviews This is an ARC review. Wow. This book shows you how easy it can be to get stuck in a cult when you think you are being saved. It's a cautionary tale about how easy sh*t can hit the fan. And the aftermath ... because once you get it, it's not easy to get out ... Due to personal circumstances it took me longer to read that it should have, yet, it made it possible for me to digest it better and think about it. And to realize it is really not far fetched. This is book 1 and I am anxious to read book 2 because well ... there is still so much more to come. It's a wonderful debut novel and I would definitely recommend it! Freya and Andre, I cannot wait to catch up with you again and to see if some of suspicions are on the money or if I am completely wrong.
